Sharks: Board makes changes

2012-11-29 00:00

THERE have been changes to the Sharks’ board of directors, with Durban businessman Stephen Saad taking over from John Swain as the chairperson.

Durban’s Saad started Aspen in 1997 and the company is currently recognised as a world leader in generic medication including anti-retrovirals, and is the largest pharmaceutical manufacturing company in Africa. In 2012, he was Sunday Times Business Leader of the Year.

Well-known businessman Terry Rosenberg was also appointed to the board at the annual shareholders’ meeting and he will join Swain as an independent director. Both appointees bring a wealth of experience to the Sharks board, in terms of the shareholders’ strategic plan and vision.

Standing down after a decade on the board — and 30 years on the Natal Rugby Union council — is former Natal player and selector Doc Louw.
