ROHIT Sharma blazed his way to a superb half century to lead the Mumbai Indians to a six-wicket win over the Perth Scorchers and a place in the semi-finals of the Champions League Twenty20 in their match at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in Delhi yesterday.

Mumbai, chasing Perth’s 149 for six, needed to win within 14.2 overs to move into second place in Group A and overtake the Otago Volts on net run-rate.

Sharma played a captain’s knock as he slashed his way to 51 not out off just 24 balls as Mumbai reached 152 for four after 13.2 overs to clinch a semi-final spot behind the eventual group winners, the Rajasthan Royals.

Meanwhile, the Chennai Super Kings were blown away by Trinidad & Tobago by eight wickets in the final Champions League T20 Group B match at the Feroz Shah Kotla in Delhi yesterday, thanks to a wonderful half century from Lendl Simmons and tight bowling from the bowlers.

Chasing just 119 for victory, Trinidad & Tobago reached their target off just 15.1 overs, which means that the men from the Caribbean seal their place in the semi-finals and top spot in Group B, after Chennai were bowled out for just 118 in 19.4 overs.
