Shoprite opens 3?000-square metre store in Raisethorpe

2009-11-24 00:00

THE bustling CBD of Raisethorpe is now home to a new 3 000-square metre Shoprite store.

This follows the official launch of the investment by the giant retailer at a special function at the site of the new store, on 532 Chota Motala Road (Old Greytown Road) yesterday evening.

The Raisethorpe Shoprite store forms part of a new 6 200-square metre retail complex on Chota Motala Road, boasting a KFC outlet and Drive-Thru, and a Pep Store.

The move by Africa’s largest supermarket retailer Shoprite represents one of a number of new investments in the greater northern suburbs area, including the recent launch of a new Save Cash & Carry retail venture at Truro Plaza.

According to Ram Harisunker, divisional manager — KwaZulu-Natal division, the grocery store will house a number of different departments, including a bakery, a fruit and vegetable area, a delicatessen, a prepared meals department and a butchery.

Consumers will be able to access the complex from Chota Motala Road and Baijoo Road.

Shoprite has launched the development in time for the busy pre-Christmas trade period.

Vasanthi Govender, who has served the Shoprite Group for many years, has been appointed store manager.
