2010-10-26 00:00

SIBONELO Mbanjwa, a singing student of James Conrad who was formerly coached by Helen Vermaak, will be performing at the Friends of Tatham Art Gallery (Fotag) free lunch-hour concert at the Tatham Art Gallery, Chief Albert Luthuli Street (Commercial Road), Pietermaritzburg, at 1.10 pm tomorrow.

In 2007 and 2008, Mbanjwa sang the tenor solos in the Pietermaritzburg Amateur Music Society performance of Handel’s Messiah, and is hoping to sing it again this year. He is also training for Catholic priesthood, holds a bachelor of arts degree in philosophy from St Joseph’s Theological Institute at Cedara, and is a second-year student for a bachelors in theology.

Mbanjwa’s varied programme includes songs and arias by Haydn, Strauss, Handel, Quilter, Bernstein, On The Street Where You Live and the celebrated Ave Maria by Bach-Gounod. Nigel Fish accompanies him at the piano.

Admission is free and secure parking is available. Donations will be collected.
