Skeleton found: Cops launch probe

2012-10-18 00:00

HILTON police have opened an inquest docket following the gruesome discovery of a skeleton with a missing leg in Cedara last week.

According to police spokesperson Lieutenant Joey Jeevan, the skeleton was discovered in the forest by a private security company. “It is alleged that on Monday last week, a group of security guards was patrolling in the forest at Cedara when they stumbled across the remains.”

Jeevan said the remains will be forwarded to the police forensics department in Pretoria to determine the identity of the person and the exact cause of death.

Police appeal to anyone with information regarding the identity of the deceased to contact Detective Constable Thobani Nxele from SAPS Hilton on 033 845 6525 or 072 108 1738.
