Soaked: Mumbai-Yorkshire match

2012-10-19 00:00

CAPE TOWN — Rain ruined the Mumbai Indians’ party at Newlands after they raced to 156-6 in 17.5 overs against Yorkshire in their Champions League T20 clash yesterday.

Play was abandoned before Mumbai could complete their innings, with the defending champions now having to rely on other results to go their way in order to stay in the competition.

Kieron Pollard (37 not out off 20 balls) looked on song for Mumbai before the heavens opened.

Play was eventually called off at 8.20 pm. A lot now rests on the Highveld Lions’ match against Yorkshire on Saturday. Should the Lions win, they will qualify for the semi-finals.
