South Coasters brave rain to watch ‘Idols SA’ winner

2012-10-30 00:00

KWAZULU-NATAL’S Idols South Africa winner Khaya Mthethwa dazzled South Coast music lovers on Saturday.

He performed at the Shelly Centre and the Ugu Sports and Leisure Centre as part of the South Coast Picnic Media Tour, organised by South Coast Tourism and Cyassound Holdings.

Also on the bill were Zahara and Riot, as well as popular South Coast artists like Tender and Sisanda.

They dazzled South Coast music lovers when they appeared at South Coast Mall and the Ugu Sports.

Despite occasional rain showers during the day, fans of Mthethwa dashed to Shelly Centre to enjoy the day with him.

Between the two shows, the artists toured South Coast tourist destinations, as the event was part of the build-up to the Christmas season.

It was a busy day for Mthethwa as he also sang the national anthem at the start of the Currie Cup final in Durban.

The evening event, at Ugu Sports and Leisure Centre, resembled a mini Ugu Jazz Festival as people poured to the venue despite the rain.

Cyassound managing-director Sibonga Msomi said they considered whether to postpone because of the weather, but decided to go ahead.
