Springbok Radio on the web

2008-06-13 00:00

South Africans who fancy a dose of nostalgia will now be able to listen to re-broadcasts of popular Springbok Radio programmes such as Squad Cars, Lux Radio Theatre, Taxi and The Creaking Door.

The radio gems will take to the airwaves again when the Springbok Radio Preservation Society of South Africa launches its full-fledged Internet radio service on July 1.

John Ferreira from the society said the new service will operate 24 hours a day, repeating a six-hour compilation of programmes four times daily to accommodate listeners both at home and on an international level. Programming will change on a daily basis.

“The programming will contain such nostalgic favourites as The Epic Casebook, The Men From The Ministry, The Sounds Of Darkness, High Adventure and many more. The radio service will be available to all Internet users free of charge,” Ferreira said.

Ferreira said there will also be new programming that will include popular music and variety shows. “All new programmes will concentrate on nostalgia and will be presented in the old-style format associated with Springbok Radio.”

The new streaming service will operate from the society’s website at www. springbokradio.com. Visit the website now for a special audio preview.
