Spurs: Modric will play in SA, says agent

2011-07-13 00:00

DESPITE the furore over his future, Tottenham Hotspur star Luka Modric is still set to fly to South Africa for the club’s pre-season tour.

Modric (25) has been linked with moves to Manchester United and Chelsea, and caused a controversy after claiming that Spurs chairperson Daniel Levy threatened to not play him if the midfielder continued his plea to leave for Chelsea.

Both Tottenham and Chelsea are keeping mum on whether a deal is being bandied about for the Croatian international, but it is believed the Blues have tabled an improved offer in the region of £27 million (R295 million).

Modric’s agent, Nikki Arthur Vuksan, confirmed his client will play in the Vodacom Challenge tournament with Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates.

“Of course Luka will be going to South Africa,” said Vuksan.
