Standard beat Young Natalians

2009-01-20 00:00

AFTERNOON rain played havoc with the outcome of Maritzburg Cricket Association (MCA) Premier 50-over matches on Sunday.

In the only win of the day in the MCA Premier 50, Brendon Jones made 111 for Standard in their defeat of Young Natalians.

In the Challenge League 50-over matches, the weather didn’t have as great an effect, as Midlands II and Standard II beat Varsity II and Southern Districts respectively.

Meanwhile, in the KZN Coastal Premier 60 League, longstanding rivals Crusaders beat Berea Rovers by 22 runs. ’Saders totalled 233 with Warren Hauptfleisch and Grant Rowley getting the runs and Robin Cheesman and Dan Horsfall getting the wickets. In reply, Rovers reached 211 with Benji Hector hitting 82 and Nic Huwer doing the damage with the ball.
