Star Search finalists put on show for Cansa

2011-02-22 00:00

THE Uvongo Town Hall will be hosting an evening of song and dance this Saturday as a concert organised by Nazreen Ally of the South Coast Star Search seeks to raise funds for the Cancer Association of South Africa (Cansa).

Among those performing will be the best of the finalists from last year’s Star Search competition, including overall winner Nerissa Moodley.

The highlight of the evening, though, will surely be the strong vocal performance of Liana Barciela.

Barciela, who left South Africa after completing her studies, has moved quickly to the very top of the entertainment industry and has performed in the United States.

She recently recorded her debut album and some of her songs are play-listed on East Coast Radio.

Local hip-hop artist Reilly Wade will also be performing on the night.

Ally said she is excited about the evening. “The South Coast deserves to be treated to so much talent and I am certain that those who come out will have a fantastic evening,” she said.

“The entertainment on offer is of such a high and professional standard.”

The evening will be dedicated to cancer sufferers, she added.

Tickets are R60 per person and refreshments will be on sale at the venue. The show begins at 6 pm.
