Street stove inventor aims to franchise

2010-12-01 00:00

AN innovative Pietermaritzburg-based entrepreneur who developed a “business in a bag” system believes that the concept will make it easier for budding small-scale entrepreneurs to enter the marketplace.

Ron Randall of Triple SSS Marketing, who built two unique kinds of mobile fast-food cooking units that use ethanol and heating gel, has now taken the concept further, with the aim of franchising the development.

He told The Witness the enhanced version is smaller and easier to move around as it can fit into a car.

He plans to sell the system as a franchise to entrepreneurs and street vendors.

Randall has re-designed the mobile vending machine by removing the trolley while maintaining the essential components, which include two burners, two stainless steel pots, professionally made signage and an umbrella.

He has also added a “Spuds on a Stick” option.

“I would like to explore the possibility of also aiming the system at people with physical disabilities,” Randall added.

He is currently registering a trademark and setting up the system as an affordable franchise.

Randall has been involved in the cooking and heating gel business for the past six years.

“It’s an affordable option for entrepreneurs.

“It’s quick cooking and the system has a very professional appearance. We have also used high-quality materials.”
