Stuart, Lepak in the midlands

2011-04-29 00:00

ON Sunday, Rowan Stuart and Jaspar Lepak will be performing at Swissland Cheese on the Midlands Meader. The pair will perform together, before Lepak performs her folk-country set and Stuart ends with poetic pop.

Lepak is a folk-country songstress from Minnesota in the United States whose remarkable gift for melody is only surpassed by her poetry. Playful, intimate, heartfelt and intense, her lyrics expose a brave vulnerability as well as an art for storytelling, while her clear, strong voice penetrates the heart.

Durban-based Stuart is starting 2011 with a fresh new live sound and concept. He describes his music as being “poetic pop rock”. This year marks a shift towards more stripped-down, live solo or duo performances, along with the addition of live looping tech-nology.

Having written a lot of new songs over the past few months, Stuart has begun to infuse his shows with new material, while still including favourites such as Late Starter, Miles Away and She’s Music, which have all received radio play across South Africa.

His single Late Starter, was a top 10 hit on East Coast Radio’s Top 20 chart.
