Sundowns focus on winning, not Chiefs

2015-03-11 00:00

AHEAD of their crucial clash against Polokwane City, Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Denis Onyango said the only key to retain their PSL title is to attempt to win all their remaining games without being concerned about the log leaders, Kaizer Chiefs.

The Brazilians will host Rise and Shine at the Lucas Moripe Stadium tonight as they seek to keep their title dreams alive.

“We are focusing on ourselves at the moment,” said Onyango.

“We know Chiefs have more points than us and they are topping the log.

“We just have to do our part of keeping on winning our games.

“Who knows? Maybe something will happen at the end.

“But as long as we keep winning our matches without focusing on other teams, then it’ll work out for us.”

Heading into the encounter, Sundowns come off an impressive 2-0 win over Free State Stars last Saturday and the Ugandan international praised his defence for their fantastic job on the day.

“Well, we knew that the game was going to be difficult for us since we were playing away from home.

“So we tried, by all means, not to concede.

“We defended very well ... for our lives ... as a team and now our focus is shifting to the next game.”

Kick-off for tonight’s clash is scheduled for 7.30 pm.
