Sundowns: ‘no use mulling over Mphela’

2011-02-15 00:00

JOHANNESBURG — Mamelodi Sundowns caretaker coach Ian Gorowa insists there is no point mulling over Katlego Mphela as the striker is still Awol.

The stand-in Brazilians boss watched his men suffer a 2-1 defeat to Orlando Pirates on Saturday night and was then asked if the Bafana Bafana forward would have made a difference had he played.

Mphela has been missing for over a month now as he demands a move away from the club and revealed he will not return to Chloorkop until he has officially been released from his contract.

“I have been asked this question many times … listen Katlego is a good player. If Katlego is available then I will use him but if he is not available then there is nothing I can do,” said Gorowa.

“Katlego is nowhere to be found and that is the problem, but that’s for management and it is not for me to comment …

“If he comes back I will use him … he is a good player.”

Meanwhile, the former Moroka Swallows coach went on to explain the reason behind benching Matthew Booth.

“I didn’t play him because he is not quick and we were going to play against very quick players …”
