SuperSport outplay Stars to win 2-1

2014-04-10 00:00

A GOAL from Ennocent Mkhabela and an own goal from Bokang Thlone saw SuperSport United come from a goal behind to beat Free State Stars 2-1 in an Absa Premiership match at the Charles Mpolei Stadium last night.

It was a tentative start to the game by Stars who sat back in defence and invited SuperSport to attack.

The away team, however, struggled in the final third of the field early on and were unable to create any decent goal scoring chances.

Instead, the opening goal came at the other end of the park in the 18th minute when Camaldine Abraw headed home a corner-kick to give Stars the lead, 1-0.

SuperSport, though, were not to be outdone and drew level 10 minutes later thanks to an expert finish from Innocent Mkhabela. In the 70th minute SuperSport pressurised Bokang Thlone to head the ball into his own net, ending the match 2-1.

Polokwane City 1 Maritzburg United 1, Free State Stars 1 Supersport United 2, Ajax CT 2 Golden Arrows 2, Kaizer Chiefs 0 Black Aces 1, Wits 1 Platinum Stars 1, Sundowns 1 Bloem Celtic 0.
