Synth and indie rock live

2010-05-21 00:00

MARITZBURG music lovers are in for a treat tonight when Joburg-based Isochronous join forces with local indie rock band The Ranks at the Red Door.

Isochronous — an epic progressive synth-rock band formed in late 2006 — performs music inspired by (among many others) the bands Mew, Muse, Jeff Buckley, The Mars Volta, and composers such as Sergei Rachmaninov, Hans Zimmer and Claude Debussy. The music is dynamic and progressive and open to experimentation, always pushing the rhythmical and melodic musical boundaries.

Isochronous will be promoting its CD Imago at the gig.

The Ranks, local favourites who have been signed to Johannesburg-based publishing company Justice and Mercy, will also be hitting the stage and showcasing the band’s debut EP sky mountain brave, which will be on sale at the venue.
