TV show: Hilton teacher bags 'miracle' R50 000

2010-05-07 00:00

HILTON resident Nelly Ngubane won an unbelievable R50 000 in cash on Tuesday evening in Unilever’s new game show, Sunlight’s Bag it or Lose.

Ngubane said she was “overwhelmed by her win”.

The show aired live on SABC2 on Tuesday. Ngubane, who bagged the maximum prize of R50 000, even started the challenge late as she was praying when the clock started.

“The prayer worked. I can see this is from God’s miracle,” she said.

Ngubane, who is a pre-primary school teacher at Ndabezinhle Crèche in Hilton, is very passionate about her work.

“I was so excited to win this money and was hoping to buy a car to be able to help transport some of the children from the crèche to and from school,” she said. “But unfortunately things don’t always work out that way,” Ngubane added. She is, instead, using the money to pay off an unexpected expense and will purchase a bicycle for her 13-year-old son.

And, although the money is not going where she hoped it would, “I am grateful to God for giving me an opportunity to win”.

The Sunlight Bag it or Lose It game show is part of Sunlight Dishwashing Liquid’s new campaign to promote the use of refill bags.

The show will be aired every Tuesday and Thursday on SABC2 until June 15.
