Tackle: Horne given off-field yellow card

2012-05-28 00:00

CAPE TOWN — Waratahs centre Rob Horne has been issued with an off-field yellow card for contravening Law 10,4 (e): Dangerous tackling, during their Super Rugby loss to the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein on Saturday.

The incident occurred in the second minute of the match at the Free State Stadium, which the Cheetahs won 35-34.

Horne tackled Cheetahs centre Robert Ebersohn, leading with his shoulder and without the use of arms after Ebersohn had passed the ball.

An off-field yellow card may be issued by the Sanzar citing commissioner for foul play incidents that are very close to, but in his opinion do not meet the red card threshold for citings.

In this case the match officials did not act on the incident and on further review of the match footage the citing commissioner deemed an off-field yellow card was appropriate.
