2010-12-02 00:00

FOUR passengers died on the spot when a taxi they were in overturned yesterday on the R66 at Holinyoka, near Nongoma, in northern KwaZulu-Natal.

Five critically injured passengers were sent to a nearby hospital.

The Mayor of Zululand District, Blessed Gwala, promised to assist the families who lost relatives in the accident.

Gwala said it was a sad day for the Zululand District, as the accident happened just days after lightning had killed seven people at eTshejuba. “Our hearts go out to the bereaved families.”

He called on road users “to be careful and patient, especially as we approach the festive season”.
