Teachers join school head protest

2014-12-03 00:00

BISLEY Park Primary School teachers yesterday joined their pupils and the pupils’ parents near the Education Department offices on Burger Street to protest against their unwanted acting principal.

The Witness reported last week that a chaotic meeting was held at the school between the school’s governing body and parents who demanded that the acting principal, Vusi Khanyile, be removed from the school. Police intervened to calm the situation as the school governing body attorney ordered Education Department officials to leave the school premises.

A parent, who would not be named, told The Witness that she would transfer her child if Khanyile was not removed from the school.

The school’s teachers felt that Khanyile had destroyed everything the school stood for.

“In a meeting last week, Khanyile shouted at me when I asked him why he had destroyed the school because the school never had such problems until he took over,” a parent said.

Attempts to contact Education Department spokesperson Sihle Mlotshwa were not successful yesterday.
