Teen accused: Psych analysis results vary

2012-09-03 00:00

THE psychiatric analysis of a boy accused of raping and gouging out the eye of an eight-year-old girl is not clear, said an eSikhawini court on Friday.

The 15-year-old suspect underwent psychiatric evaluation over a period of 30 days at a Pinetown facility.

Magistrate T.S. Ngesi postponed the proceedings, saying he found the results by two separate doctors who monitored the teenager’s mental health as “not the same”.

“The findings submitted to me by the doctors vary in their final conclusions,” said Ngesi.

The case was postponed until September 18, when the doctors are expected to explain the variations in their findings.

The teenager is currently in custody at a youth correctional facility in Pinetown.
