Telkom Awards: Chiefs expected to win most

2010-12-07 00:00

KAIZER Chiefs are expected to make a clean sweep at the Telkom Knockout awards ceremony today.

R750 000 is on offer for individual players who shone during the competition.

In the Goalkeeper of the Tournament award, Orlando Pirates’ Moeneeb Josephs is the main competition for Kaizer Chiefs’ Itumeleng Khune. Maritzburg United’s Shu-Aib Walters also has an outside chance in this category.

Pirates defender Rooi Mahamutsa is heavily tipped to walk away with the defender of the tournament trophy and a R100 000 cheque. However, he faces stiff opposition for the award from Amakhosi captain Jimmy Tau and Santos defender Wayne Arendse.

The Midfielder of the Tournament section looks a tough bet, as Orlando Pirates’ Andile Jali and Daine Klate go head to head with Amakhosi’s Reneilwe Letsholoyane. This award also carries a purse of R100 000.

A prize of R100 000 will be awarded to the striker who most impressed.

The Pirates duo of Chiukepo Msowoya and Ezenwa Otorogu caught the eye, but Chiefs pair Knowledge Musona and Sthembiso Ngcobo shone for the champions.
