Tennis: schools tournament

THE KwaZulu-Natal Interdistrict Tournament, which also doubles as the KZN high school team trials, will take place at Kershaw Park in Pietermaritzburg from March 7 to 10.

Two KZN U19 and two KZN U15 teams, consisting of six boys and six girls each, will be announced at the conclusion of the event.

Teams from Northern KZN, Zululand, South Coast, eThekwini and Midlands will vie for top honours.

The KZN U19A and the KZN U15A and KZN B sides will play in the Tennis SA-sponsored SA Interprovincial Tournament from March 20 to 24 in Pretoria.

A national team will be selected at this tournament, which will play in England in June.

MIDLANDS TEAMS

Boys: U19 – Midlands Red: Axel Cronje, James Strachan, Eric van der Merwe, Thuba Mjila. Midlands Blue: Ferdie Luttig, Martin Kusel, Daniel Roberts, Peace Zondi.

U15 – Midlands Red: Nikolai Manchev, Lucas Cronje, Lance Comins, Noel van Koorten. Midlands Blue: Nicholas Kershaw, James Redfern, Stefan Reith, Lethu Mthembu.

Girls: U19 – Midlands Red: Sarah Mayne, Ellen King, Christie Bradford, Cailene Jamloodeen. Midlands Blue: Rachel Barnard, Tessa van der Merwe, Nicola Deenik, Cynthia Kijjambu.

U15 – Midlands Red: Sam Yeats, Kirsten Moody, Julia Saulez, Kate Dunton. Midlands Blue: Jemma Veenstra, Sophie McDonald, Megan McDonald, Darshana Govender.
