The KZNPO’s ‘All Time Top Classics’

ACCLAIMED as both soloist and ­ensemble performers, Boris and Elena Kerimov are well known to lovers of classical music.

Both members of the KwaZulu-Natal Philharmonic Orchestra they also regularly collaborate with pianist Christopher Duigan at classical and proms concerts. Elena has also wowed audiences as part of the ­electrifying Brava! ensemble of ­electric violin players.

Combine this talent with the ­KZNPO under the baton of Naum Rousine and patrons who attend All Time Top Classics at the Pietermaritzburg City Hall on March 5 are guaranteed an unforgettable evening.

The show features a host of classical favourites including Vivaldi’s memorable Four Seasons: Spring, Strauss’s lively Blue Danube, Rossini’s William Tell Overture, the haunting Adagio for strings by ­Barber (used in the film Platoon), Mozart’s masterful Symphony No. 25 and Bach’s captivating Air on a G string.

Other highlights will be Boris ­Kerimov’s performance of Piazzolla’s brilliant Grand Tango and ­Elena’s rendition of the famous ­Russian folk dance melody Korobuschka.

Refreshments will be on sale at the concert and there will be security- monitored parking in and around the city hall, as well as at the Tatham Art Gallery.
