Thefts: Police ask victims to come forward

2012-07-06 00:00

POLICE are looking for the owners of property, which include Zimbabwean and Egyptian dollar notes, believed to have been stolen in the Alexandra Road area.

Mduduzi Khumalo (38), of Elandskop outside Pietermaritzburg, was arrested on Monday after police recovered electrical appliances, cellphones, linen, cutlery, crockery, a camcorder, and the foreign currency, which were found in his house.

Khumalo made a brief appearance in the Pietermaritzburg Magistrate’s Court this week accused of burglaries and theft.

He was released on R1 000 bail and will return to court on August 17.

Police believe the items were stolen in the Alexandra Road policing precinct.

Residents who may have experienced break-ins in the Alexandra Road policing area before June and have reported cases can view the property at the Alexandra Road police station.

They should call the investigating officer, Warrant Officer Xolani Zondi, at 033 845 7724 or 083 292 2314.
