There's a luck! Medics in the area as baby arrives

2011-10-31 00:00

A CALL for paramedics to attend an accident scene in Copesville on Saturday afternoon proved fortunate for an expectant mother and her baby, who happened to be in the vicinity of the accident scene.

As paramedics were about to leave the scene community members approached them for help as a woman was going into labour, said ER24 spokesperson Derrick Banks.

“Paramedics assessed her and found that she was in full term and that she was about to deliver.

“A few minutes later they helped her deliver a baby boy. Both mother and baby are in a healthy condition and were taken to Northdale hospital.”

Attempts to contact the mother for comment and the hospital were unsuccessful. The hospital refused to divulge information without the consent of health department spokesperson Chris Maxon, who was not available.
