Thistle bristle group raise money for Movember campaign

2014-11-29 00:00

A LOCAL band of businessmen have taken up the Movember challenge with a crimson twist.

The crew have established the Thistle Bristle Foundation, which raises money and contributes to the Movember awareness drive against testicular cancer.

The businessmen pledged a share of the profits from their respective organisations towards the international movement.

Farmyard Organics owner John Kidger said his red moustache has garnered some awkward stares. “Movember is more than just an excuse to grow a good moustache. I am proud to put my company behind a foundation that is helping to break down the stigma that surrounds men’s health,” he said.

He added that last year Thistle Bristle raised R15 000 for the Movember Foundation of South Africa, and ranked 63rd in the country for their campaign.

This year they’re aiming to be placed in the top 10 contributors to the fund.

He also pledged to donate 10 cents for every bag of compost his company sold.

Thistle Hotel owner Ducky Duckworth also joined the effort, pledging 10 cents for every beer sold.

Companies can donate online, or by contacting John Kidger at 083 257 9594 up until Wednesday, December 10.
