Thobeka to be the new voice of Msunduzi Municipality

2014-05-06 00:00

A YOUNG public relations expert will be the new voice of Msunduzi Municipality.

Thobeka Mafumbatha takes over the reins from Brian Zuma as the city’s new manager of marketing and communications.

Mafumbatha was introduced to the media yesterday by Mayor Chris Ndlela.

He said Mafumbatha had studied public relations management at the Durban University of Technology and completed her studies in 2003. She furthered her studies by doing a course on project management through Damelin.

Mafumbatha previously worked for the O.R. Tambo District Municipality in the Eastern Cape as the senior communications officer for five years. She moved to the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) in 2007, where she worked as assistant manager in the communications and marketing department.

Ndlela said that in appointing her, the municipality had been mindful of fulfilling two critical areas: women and youth empowerment.

The bubbly Mafumbatha said she needed a few days to find her feet, and would meet journalists shortly to talk about herself and marketing the city.
