‘Tigress’ needs your votes to secure dream job

EMPANGENI’S Ntombifuthi “Tigress” Mtshali has made her community proud by making it into the final three of Gagasi FM’s Topstar presenter search.

She received the call after 10 pm last Monday night, notifying her that she had made the shortlist.

The 25-year-old, who wowed the judges during her audition in September, now needs the public to vote for her and ensure that she lands the job of her dreams.

“We were told that we should wait for a call to find out if we had made it through. I waited and only got the call on Monday night, and my house was buzzing with screams; we were all excited,” said Mtshali.

She had learnt about the auditions from a neighbour, but faced an immediate obstacle.

“I didn’t have money to go, but I borrowed R50 and made my way to the auditions.

“I was overwhelmed when they told me I had made it through to the next round.”

Mtshali studied drama and performance at the University of KwaZulu-Natal in Pietermaritzburg.

She is one of 10 children, and looks up to her father as the driving force in her life.

“My dad is my inspiration. He has done everything for my siblings and me. I am where I am because of his support.”

Mtshali promises to bring a different vibe to Gagasi FM. “I don’t want to fit in, I just want to be myself, and listeners will love that.”

The top three will each individually host a show on weekdays until November 14.

The winner of the presenter search will win a one-year on-air contract with Gagasi FM and host a graveyard shift from 1 am to 5 am. Other prizes are a smartphone and laptop.

The winner will be announced on November 17 at a gala dinner.
