Titans’ spin curbs Dolphins’ resurgence to win at Oval

2011-10-10 00:00

AFTER continuing with a well orchestrated fight back, the Dolphin’s batting order imploded in the late afternoon session on Saturday to set up an easy win for the Titans yesterday.

Needing 172 to win the match, the Titans batsman made quick work of the total, losing only three wickets in the process.

Titans batsman Jacques Rudolph was named man of the match, despite Shaun von Berg’s five wicket haul for 76.

The Dolphins’ fight back would continue until the close of play on Saturday, but after tea Divan van Wyk, star of the Dolphins innings, was caught on 75 off Harris, who pocketed 3/101 by the end of the match.

This brought local boy Glenn Addicott to the wicket. Von Berg mixed his bowling up expertly and produced a googly that Addicott never picked. He was struck on the pads in front of his wickets.

Ahmed Amla (44) fell soon after when he lapped an easy catch back to Von Berg. David Miller attempted to press the issue until a big shot too many had him caught in the deep off Von Berg. Von Berg had Robbie Frylinck caught when he hit across the line of the ball.

This brought tail ender Keshav Maharaj to the wicket who lasted until the end of the day, before he was caught by Morkel in front of his wickets. Daryn Smit was left stranded on 24.
