Tough evening in store for PMB rugby clubs

2013-07-12 00:00

THE next round of the Fidelity Security Moor Cup Premier Division club rugby competition takes place tonight and it could not get any harder for the two Pietermaritzburg clubs.

Bottom club Maritzburg Collegians and the fifth-placed UKZN Impi travel to Durban to play against the top two club teams in the KZN Premier Division.

The Impi face perennial champions College Rovers at 8.30 pm on the King’s Park three field while PMB Collegians get to grips with second-placed Durban Collegians on King’s Park 10 at the same time.

For the PMB sides, much depends on fitness as the Durban teams are blessed with the depth of quality players they can call on.

The pick of the week could be the clash between third-placed Crusaders and fourth-placed Varsity College, which kicks off at 8 pm at Saders’ stronghold in Ranleigh Crescent, Durban North. These clubs are a hop, step and jump apart in geographical terms and there is sure to be a big turnout of fans.

Saders are just two log points ahead of the ambitious Varsity College and this match could go either way.

The remaining Premier Division encounter sees the second-last Zululand Rhinos hosting third-last Harlequins in Empangeni at 8.30 pm. PMB Collegians will be awaiting the outcome of this match with interest.
