Tovey, Heric line up for Thanda

2011-06-22 00:00

FORMER AmaZulu coach Neil Tovey and Serbian Vladislav Heric are front-runners to take over the coaching reins at Thanda Royal Zulu in the National First Division next season.

The Witness has learnt that the two coaches have forwarded their CVs in anticipation of Mlungisi “Professor” Ngubane being relieved of his duties.

Ngubane failed to steer the Richards Bay-based side into the Absa Premiership last season. After leading Thanda to second spot on the Coastal Stream log he qualified for promotion play-offs where his tactics left much to be desired.

Thanda chairperson Pierre Delvaux confirmed that Tovey’s and Heric’s CVs are in their offices, but will tackle the coaching issue once he has had a meeting with Ngubane.

“It is true that we have been inundated with calls from many coaches wanting the job, but only until we meet with Prof will we issue a statement. We supported him through thick and thin in the recently ended season, but as for promotion, it was not to be,” said Delvaux.

Tovey last served on the relegated Mpumalanga Black Aces employment roll, while Heric, who has coached Maritzburg United and Bay United, is with NFD Inland Stream side African Warriors.
