Two cracking school hockey games today

2012-06-16 00:00

THE schoolboy hockey season is drawing to an end with just two games today.

Next week there is one game before the various age group interprovincial tournaments during the holidays.

Kearsney, after their recent good wins, are certainly the top coastal side and Michaelhouse, their opponents today, are not far behind Maritzburg College in the inland region.

Last week, Kearsney won in a high goal-scoring match against Westville and the week before beat College to cement themselves at the top. They have won all their matches against KZN schools and will be determined to finish the season unbeaten.

Michaelhouse — always more dangerous on their home pitch — will be looking to cause a surprise.

St Charles will be hosting Hilton this morning. Hilton have battled against KZN schools, but they will see this game as an opportunity to increase their confidence ahead of their crunch game against rivals Michaelhouse next week.

St Charles have given two of the top sides a fright in their last few games, with draws against both College and Westville.

A win against Hilton will make it a good season for the Saints after an expected struggle with a young side.
