Two men held for repeated rape

2008-01-22 00:00

Two alleged rapists appeared in a Durban court yesterday after they were arrested for repeatedly raping a 26-year-old woman in Umlazi over the weekend.

Superintendent Danelia Veldhuizen said the woman was approached by two men who asked to walk with her on her way home.

When she refused, they allegedly pulled out a firearm and demanded cash and her cellphone.

She had neither cash nor a cellphone and the men then ordered her to undress and raped her. They then took her back to their residence where they repeatedly raped her.

Veldhuizen said the woman reported the rape to police after the men released her on Saturday evening.

She directed police to the home of her alleged attackers, where the men, aged 29 and 25, were arrested. A firearm was recovered.
