Ugu: Health officials suspended

2010-09-09 00:00

THREE Health Department officials in the Ugu District office were suspended yesterday on charges of fraud and corruption.

The three, whose names were withheld pending investigations, were suspended on full pay.

Department head Dr Sibongile Zungu said the officials are among a long list of suspects whom the department is investigating for fraud and corruption.

She said the members of the investigation team are drawn from various state institutions to ensure that innocent people are not tainted and that all the matters are finalised speedily.

Department spokesperson Chris Maxon said he cannot divulge the details of the cases as that might compromise the investigations.
