Uvongo beach roars, err, rules.

KATE Ziervogel has lived on the South Coast for nine years. She has a passion for networking. She loves finding new and exciting things to do and see and believes that the South Coast has no limits on things to do and places to see. TWANET KIRK BY caught up with her.

How long have you been here on the South Coast? Nine years.

What is the most exciting thing about what you do? Just when you think you know everything about the South Coast, you find something new. South Coasters are very good at creating new and exciting things to do and I just love that.

When not busy with work what do you do for fun? The South Coast offers people a variety of things to do, from water sports to fine dining. I can honestly say I found a piece of paradise here. I’m often out meeting people or chatting to restaurant owners and finding out more fabulous stuff that happens on the South Coast.

If you get visitors, where is the first place you take them to and why this place? Usually Uvongo beach. Besides the fact that it is close to where I stay, it’s such an unusual beach. Slightly protected from the wind and surf, it’s fabulous and the lagoon is delicious. And when the waterfall hums it truly lives up to its name. Uvongo is a corruption of the Zulu word ivungu, which apparently refers to the low rumbling sound the water makes.

What do you love the most about our coast? The community is close-knit and unlike the big city, here everyone knows everyone, which is great

Where is your most favourite place here on the South Coast? Wow, this really is a hard one — because I just think that every place here on the South Coast has its own little bit of something fabulous to offer and it definitely depends on one’s mood.

Describe yourself in five words. Energetic, passionate, dedicated, inquisitive and observant.

Is there anything you would want to change about yourself? Nope, nothing. I get by quite nicely with just Kate

What extraordinary talents do you posses if any? I speak fluent isiZulu. I don’t know if that counts

Do you prefer any specific music? My taste varies from Forthlock, Suzanne Jade, Locnville, AC/DC and even Margate Pipes and Drums.
