Uvongo: parents save toddler from drowning in pool

2012-11-05 00:00

A TODDLER narrowly escaped death after he fell into a pool at a private holiday resort in Uvongo on the South Coast this weekend.

The three-year-old boy was resuscitated by his parents before paramedics took over and stabilised him.

The family was on holiday from Tongaat and found their son unconscious and unresponsive in the resort’s swimming pool on Saturday afternoon.

“Netcare 911 paramedics arrived at the scene and established that the child had started to breathe after the parents started resuscitation,” said spokesperson Chris Botha.

The advanced life support paramedics and his team then took over treating the patient.

The child was taken to Netcare Margate Hospital for further care, said Botha.
