Varsity edge closer to Standard

2014-02-27 00:00

VARSITY managed to close the gap to seven points behind Standard at the top of the table when they beat Zingari by nine wickets in the KZNICU Premier League last weekend.

Good bowling by Varsity’s Lucky Dladla saw Zingari bowled all out for 102 in just 24.3 overs.

Varsity took just 12.2 overs to reach the target as they closed the gap behind Standard with just two games to play.

In the weekend’s only other game, KZN Inland’s Brad Moses scored 117 not out against Masibemunye as Standard piled on the runs, scoring 303/6 from their 50 overs.

However, with Masibemunye sitting on 25/1 after 6.3 overs, the game had to be abandoned due to bad weather.

Northern Combined were handed a default win over the KZNICU Schools Combined team, while Lancashire’s match versus Young Natalians was rescheduled to March 16.
