Victim says alleged serial rapist made her watch porn

2014-08-01 00:00

A VICTIM of an alleged Pietermaritzburg serial rapist has described how he forced her to watch pornography and re-enact it at knifepoint.

On trial in the regional court is a man with many names.

The charge sheet lists the first names he used as Wonder, Njabulo, Swazi and Bongani, and the surnames as Myeni or Mkhasibe.

He is 39 years old.

He faces a string of charges including 12 counts of rape and fraud. The state alleges he promised women jobs at the municipality, for which they paid him, but they ended up not getting any jobs.

He allegedly kidnapped some of his victims, and even impersonated a police officer on one occasion.

One of his alleged victims who testified yesterday, said she was promised a job in the municipality by the accused, but there was no job.

Instead she ended up being assaulted and raped repeatedly.

She allegedly underwent a one-month-long ordeal at the accused’s rented house in Willowfountain.

The woman said the accused initially “proposed love” to her.

She said she’d ended up accepting his love and moved in with him. After she had done so he allegedly gave her muthi to drink and started abusing her.

“I was forced to watch pornographic movies and to perform them. He threatened to kill me. He would assault me with a belt and the back of knife. After he finished raping me he would give me undiluted Jik [bleach] to wash myself.”

He was always at the house with her, she said. When he was assaulting her he would play loud music so that the neighbours would not hear her crying. She said she was scared of the man.

One day when they went to town for groceries she managed to flee from a taxi rank and later went to the police.
