Vintages preen for 32nd Cars in the Park

2008-05-14 00:00

The annual display of vintage cars, Cars in the Park, will take place on Sunday, May 18, in the Mayor’s Garden and the Oval of Alexandra Park Stadium in Pietermaritzburg.

The annual event, organised by the Vintage Sports Club, will celebrate its 32nd fair.

"Although the event is primarily open to bona fide Motor Clubs, who will be there in force from all over KZN and beyond, private vehicles are very welcome as well and will be directed to the individual entry section of the show," said event organiser Ty Terblanche.

Cars that are on show will be exhibited by well known "one marquee clubs", like Austin Martin, Jaguar, Lynx, Morris Minor and Land Rover.

There will be a variety of stalls selling sweets, savouries, drinks and motor care services and products.

A pipe band from the Caledonian Society will provide the entertainment during lunch.

They will be kitted out in costume and are sure to add very lively entertainment.

Ample parking will be provided on the soccer fields next to the Oval, above Balmoral Drive and off College Road next to the Duzi River.

There will be five entrance gates for pedestrians.

Entrance costs R25 for adults and R15 for children.
