Vuitton’s model from Zim

BORN in a country faced with famine and socio-political imbalances, a 16-year-old Zimbabwean has been chosen as one of the faces of the luxurious fashion brand, Louis Vuitton’s autumn/winter 2011 advertising campaign.

At a statuesque 180cm height, Nyasha Matonhodze was born in Zimbabwe on July 31, 1995. She was raised by her grandmother until she was eight. She then moved to London where her mother lived and that was where her modelling career started.

Matonhodze, who cited the Bible as her favourite book and Sister Act III as her favourite film, has graced catwalks for Jonathan Saunders, Louis Vuitton, Emanuel Ungaro and Loewe.

Describing her motto in life, Matonhodze said: “Morally, I think one should be nice to everyone. There’s no reason for anyone to feel like they’re on top of the world.”
