2010-10-26 00:00

THE Top 10 Schools Water Polo Tournament was held over the weekend of October 15 to 17 with three age groups, U19, U15 and U14, competing at the Kings Park pool in Durban.

Clifton won the trophy in all three age groups, which is the first time they have achieved this. They won the U19 for the third year in succession, together with being overall winners for the second time. The surprise was Thomas More and although Clifton beat them comfortably in the final, they took a creditable second place in the U19 age group. Durban High School were beaten 8-7 by Thomas More for the latter to claim a place in the final.

Hilton was the best of the midlands schools coming third overall, just one point behind Westville who were second in the overall standings. Maritzburg College U19 disappointed after a better first term as they were placed eighth, but overall they managed fourth buoyed by the U15 and U14s who both came third in their respective age groups. Hilton and Westville were second in the U15 and U14, respectively.
