Wasps: SA’s johnson joins troubled side

2012-04-12 00:00

CAPE TOWN — English club London Wasps have signed Cheetahs and Springbok loose forward Ashley Johnson for the next European season.

According to the website, Planetrugby.com, Johnson is one of four new signings made by Wasps, who are in danger of going into administration unless they can attract new investment by the end of the campaign, following the collapse of takeover talks.

Johnson, veteran Wales flyhalf Stephen Jones, Leeds prop Phil Swainston and Ospreys prop Will Taylor, are the new signings.

London Wasps CEO Chris Thomas said they are pleased to secure these excellent signings although their priority now is concluding a deal which will secure their financial future.
