Water demo continues

PROTESTORS continued their blockade of the R103 between Colenso and Ladysmith this weekend, in protest of water shortages in the area.

All communication lines are also still down, as repair teams have been unable to enter the area. Yesterday marked the seventh day of the protest.

The IFP has entered the fray, calling on the Public Protector to investigate the water shortages. IFP leader in the KZN Legislature Blessed Gwala said many residents in the uThukela District Municipality had no access to water, with people in Cornfields and Thembalihle being without water for almost four months.
