International indie/rock band The Privates and Gonzo Republic (from Durban) are performing at the Red Door tonight. Entrance is R20. Inquiries: 084 555 3112.

The Youth Day celebrations at the Bat Centre, featuring the “Hardcore Kids 4 Unity” concert. Four local bands include City of Gates, Colin Grove, Go!Go! Bronco, His Dying Wish and We Stole Snowy. The show will take place at the Bat’s Sipho Gumede Hall, beginning at 7 pm. Entrance is R40.

Caversham Valley Concerts presents Neill Solomon and Friends (Dan Choirboli, Connie Bentlage and Wayne Coghlan) performing an acoustic set of hits and material spanning over two decades. Madala “Bafo” Kunene takes the stage to present his legendary and traditional guitar rhythms. Shackles and Chains Hip-Hop Music Extravaganza hosts the Youth Day celebrations at the City Hall where many local hip-hop artists will be showcasing their talent. TUESDAY

Jazz outfit Beat-Rout is performing at the Maritzburg Musicians’ Club next week. The band is an eclectic quartet which formed in 2006. The band includes Daniel Sheldon (trumpet), Gerald Sloane (guitar), Logan Byrne (bass) and Tony Muirhead (drums). The club meets at the Red Door (4 Quarry Road, off Victoria Road).
