What’s hot on the box this week

2010-03-29 00:00

KATE Winslet won a Golden Globe award for best actress for her performance in her soon-to-be-ex-hubbie Sam Mendes’ film Revolutionary Road, and you can see that award-winning performance at 9.30 pm on M-Net tonight.

Winslet and co-star Leonardo DiCaprio play a married couple in this gritty deconstruction of the American Dream, set in the 1950s.

Frank and April fall in love and move to the suburbs. She’s a stay-at-home mother and he’s a worker in the city. They have a lovely house, nice neighbours, but deep down they are dissatisfied, and wonder if this is all life holds.

When Kate suggests they pack up and move to Paris, their relationship perks up — until Frank learns he has been promoted. This, along with some brutally truthful comments from a neighbour, send the relationship into free-fall.
