Hillcrest Event: Enjoy an evening of Indian classical music and buffet style cuisine at Le Domaine’s Club de Vie today. Entertainment will be provided by Florian Schiertz on the tabla and Kalyan Muckerjee on the fretless sarod with pianist and composer Surendran Reddy who introduces the works by both artists. Pmb Art: The Tatham Art Gallery’s New Acquisitions exhibition runs until May 4. This showcases works acquired by the gallery over the last couple of years, as well as some older pieces and paintings that have hung in the city hall since the days that the gallery was housed there. Some of the works were bought on local exhibitions, from Jabulisa 2006 and from last year’s Echo Craft Bazaar. Gallery hours are 10 am to 6 pm, Tuesday to Sunday. Inquiries: 033 392 2801.

Pmb Art: In both the Tatham’s Schreiner Gallery and the Georgetown Library in Edendale is Edendale Excells, a celebration of four artists with links to Edendale — Gerard Bhengu, Michael Zondi, Chickenman Mkhize and Siyabonga Sikhosana, ending on May 4 in the Tatham and February 29 at Georgetown. Pmb Art: The exhibition of wearable art by Sue Akerman, Annette McMaster, Jutta Faulds and Clare Smith in the café and 3D galleries continues this month. Pmb Art: The Blue Caterpillar Gallery at Butterflies for Africa is currently showing paintings by Pietermaritzburg-born Dutch resident, Jon Eiselin. Pmb Art: The Basani Art and Craft Centre at 15 Hyslop Road is open daily from 9 am to 5 pm [closed Mondays]. Basani has a new work-in-progress gallery where emerging artists and crafters work and run workshops. Basani stocks Zulu pots and crafts and hand-printed textiles.
