Wife killing: reports awaited

2011-11-14 00:00

THE trial of traffic officer Lebohang Justice Molefe (32), who has been convicted of the attempted murder of his wife, Londeka, has been postponed until May 21 next year pending psychological reports to be obtained by the defence.

Molefe’s advocate, Louis Barnard, confirmed last week that the defence was in the process of obtaining three separate psychological reports in connection with the matter.

Molefe pleaded gulity to the attempted murder charge before Judge Isaac Madondo and assessors on October 24 and admitted that he fired shots at his wife with his service firearm after allowing his emotions to get the better of him during an altercation on April 29, 2010.

He said he panicked when he saw that the shots had struck her and he left the house.

As he did so he saw his wife, who was bleeding from the face, walking to the verandah accompanied by her mother, and he phoned his sister to arrange for an ambulance.

The shooting occurred at his wife’s mother’s home in Oribi Village where the couple were living at the time.
