Win a numeracy and literacy boost for your school

2010-10-11 00:00

IF you have more than 180 grade four pupils in your school and a strong desire to see those children improve their literacy and numeracy skills, then you stand a good chance of being Pep Stores’ next Student Prince Academy.

Every year the retail company runs a nation-wide competition motivated by its commitment to help grade four pupils get the building blocks of education right, which are numeracy and literacy.

The school’s principal, a teacher, parent, pupil or community member can nominate a school for the competition.

In fewer than 100 words, they should state why they think their school should win.

Besides becoming involved in the literacy and numeracy programme, teachers are trained to offer life skills in the form of extra tuition for the winning school, where the pupils are provided with a snack.

Pep values the programme that the schools can win at R600 000.

• The school must have more than 180 grade four pupils.

• Write down in fewer than 100 why you think your school should win.

• Add the school’s name, address, contact details and the principal’s name.

• Fax entries to 086 2752 097.

The competition closes on October 22.
